ER24 MEDIC ACCESS

ER24 Medic Access is designed for funders, medical schemes and medical scheme administrators alike. It ensures a 24-hour per day access for all members of the group and their families to the ER24 Contact Centre and the national ER24 emergency network which includes air and ground ambulances.

Whilst all the other services that are provided to deal with the emergency such as ambulance transportation, emergency room costs, investigations and hospital admissions are the responsibility of the client or member, ER24’s Contact Centre is available 24/7 for after-hours membership validation. It is important to note that the cost of all ambulance transfers will be billed at ER24’s preferential tariffs which are significantly lower than private ambulance tariffs.

All members have access to the following services via our emergency hotline simply by calling 084 124:

• Family and domestic abuse
• Rape
• Trauma
• Child abuse
• Bereavement
• HIV
• Suicide Hotline – Life Line
• Poison Hotline – In-house

ER24 ENHANCED MEDIC ACCESS

ER24 Enhanced Medic Access incorporates all the services included in the ER24 Medic Access program with the addition of the following:

• Claims clinically and financially audited
• Payment recommendation submitted to client
• Access to ER24’s state-of –the-art real-time reports 

ER24 MEDIC SERVICE

This product is designed for groups such as funders, medical aids and medical aid administrators. It is a risk-transfer (capitation) agreement and provides, in addition to the services included in the Medic Access and Medic Access Enhanced products, a comprehensive basket of services that are “tailor-made” as required:

• Dispatch of appropriate emergency response 
• Medical transportation by ambulance, helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft     
• Inter-hospital transfers   
• In-hospital medical monitoring
• Interaction with the funder’s clinical risk management team as required for individual case management
• Compliance with funders’ principles and protocols 
• Medical repatriation (if required)
• Repatriation of mortal remains (if required)
• Claims management – auditing and payment
• Management and quality control of ER24 providers
• Management and quality control of contracted provider network
• Clinical Governance
• Interaction with designated representatives from medical scheme and administrators
• Access to comprehensive real-time reports
• Provision of IFRS4 reports as per the Council of Medical Schemes’ requirements
