EMERGENCY MEDIA & CLIENT LIAISON (EMCL)
ER24’s EMCL unit is comprised of a team of three based in Johannesburg and Durban.
The way in which the unit works is based on the interest and education of the general public through the media with regards to Emergency Medical Service operations. In other words, high profile cases attended to by the ground operational crews are generally interesting to the public, and the EMCL has created relationships with the media to relay information to the public through them.
These relationships with the media are also a means of creating awareness to the public regarding their safety. An example is the Easter weekend, where we at ER24 reiterate to the public through the media the importance of vehicle safety, resting during driving and general road safety and awareness.
