The health of an individual is foremost the the responsibility of the individual itself. The government's role is to ensure that an individual has access to facilities to receive basic health care. None of the rights contained in the Patient's Bill of Rights are absolute.

Responsibilities of the Patient

The patient is responsible to take care of his / her health

Not to abuse the health care system

Advise health care providers regarding their wishes regarding his / her death

The patient is responsible to comply with the prescribed treatment

Ask about the related costs of the treatment and arrange for payment

Take care of all his / her medical records in their possession
